ROCOCOMICS
Over the past two decades, contemporary artistic practices have developed new dialogues and
strategies that legitimize the work of art.
Encaustic, an ancient technique I have explored for the last fifteen years, has allowed me to approach the surface as skin, responsive to touch and intervention. I meticulously mark this wax skin with a tattoo machine, creating overly ornamented, repetitive patterns in which I camouflage nostalgic comics. This unexpected element engages with hidden archetypes of the collective unconscious, gradually revealed as the viewer approaches the piece.
